The Consortium of Asian American Theaters & Artists (CAATA) envisions a strong and sustainable Asian American theater community that is an integral presence in national culture — evocative of our past, declarative of our present, and innovative towards our future.

ConFest VIRTUAL SHOWCASE

ALOHA NUI KĀKOU! Welcome to the Consortium of Asian American Theaters & Artists' (CAATA) ConFest Virtual Showcase. Balancing the responsibility we feel towards Hawaiʻi and our desire to connect with you, we offer this Virtual Showcase to celebrate the vibrance of our diverse community and address some of the issues that threaten our efforts. We hope that this Virtual Showcase, celebrating the excellence of scores of theater artists from Hawaiʻi, Guåhan and the continental US, serves as a step toward forming deep, long-term connections with Hawaiʻi artists.

HEALING OVER HATE

CAATA's ongoing series HEALING OVER HATE addresses the dramatic surge of anti-Asian violence that continues intensified throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. This open-ended series will center the needs of the AAPI community in these uncertain and frightening times, and provide resources and activism. The series is part of a multi-pronged crisis response by CAATA, sparked by the Atlanta massacre on March 16th which claimed the lives of eight people, six of them Asian women. As the violence persists nationwide, CAATA continues to stand against hate in solidarity with all communities experiencing race-based hate.
